The short answer
The gospel Jesus preached is the gospel of the Kingdom—God’s reign breaking in through the King, calling for repentance and faith (Mark 1:14–15; Matthew 4:23). The New Testament is not only about “getting into heaven”; it is about inheriting and living under God’s Kingdom (John 3:3; Matthew 24:14). Local churches matter deeply as communities of living stones (1 Peter 2:5), but the building, brand, and program are not the Kingdom itself.
